Summer is here

April 09 135
So when did it hit well it hit this house like a tornado the week before school let out.  How do I know?  I will fill you in on the evidence.  My floor I haven't seen it ( know it is there I remember it).  If you need the bathroom get up early or race to it slammmmmming the door behind you.  "I'm bored" can be heard from each of the younger children more than once.  Drink glasses have multiplied and lay on the kitchen table, kitchen counters and sometimes on the floor. My thought is maybe the cats need a drink?  Laundry has also multiplied and some of the place it has nested any animal would be proud of it.
We have found a schedule, summer camps what a great invention.  Next month on the other had the kids will have to find ways of keeping themselves busy.  How long till they go back to school?  To long.  I'm all for year round school that should cure the "I'm bored" illness.

You know it has been a while when you forget your password

I nearly forgot my password.  Nearly forgot if I hadn't thought long and hard I might not have been blogging today.

Long time no blog well yes.  Lately I have had some time to think and I wonder if I should keep blogging.  Would I knit any less....no I will knit till time stops if I could.  Will I have time to blog in the summer.  That is the true question.  I think I have to come to the fact I have a ho hummmm life.  I knit I have 5 kids and life is to busy and quick to write about it.  I just thought I should let you know what is going on in my brain.
Okay enough of that what has been going on in my life.  Same old same but I should say Kathryn came home from College and Mum is Sooooo happy about that. April 09 100 We all went to greet her at the airport and much to our surprise she had already landed and was waiting for us.  I didn't even have a chance to get out my knitting.  I don't know who is more happy to see her the kids or me.   ME!
Justin has wiggled his way into his sisters time and I am free to go and pick the kids up from school.  They are using the time for sister and brother stuff.  Got to love it.
I am off to Justin's school for his end of the year play.  Yes I will cry I always do.  I have tissues in my purse.  My next post maybe I'll have photos of the whole thing.
Summer is nearly hear and the kids will be home.  Good and bad I love the relaxed time but at the same time what will we do for the whole summer.......yikes more to come on that subject.

Racheal's big day

Racheal is one step closer to being a full member in the church.  She had her First Holy Communion.  It was a great day filled with smiles and laughter and spent with her best friend forever Emily as she tells me.  Life is great when you are 7. I thought I would share our day with you.April 09 047  April 09 046 Even the youngest cleaned up.  I don't think the taste was up to what she had thought.   I wish we had a photo of her face.  We did get some other rather nice photos.  So I will stop typing and show you.April 09 056

Shhhhhh Christmas knitting

I have another project done.  Since Hubbys' sweater fits!!!!!!!!! Huge sigh.  I found a sweater pattern that just said knit me up for Racheal.  Well I did just that.  It is a lion brand sweater on of the free pattern and every time I looked at it I thought "I must knit this up for Racheal"  The time had come I had some extra yarn and here is the sweater.April 09 033   All I have to do know is wait for Christmas.  That is the really hard part.  Waiting it seems we are always waiting.  Back to Christmas knitting.  I have lost count of the projects I need to knit up so better get knitting so I don't get a surprise come November.

To busy knitting to post

Is it Friday already.  The week has just zipped by.  I thought I would post on Monday but life got in the way.  Tuesday is never good.  Wednesday...... I don't remember much of that day.  Thursday I had to finish a preemie blanket.  Can you tell life gets in the way of blogging?  Well it is Friday and here I have a moment to post. With all my errands, I had a lot of waiting to do, hence a lot of knitting done.
Ever see a pattern for the second or third time and think I should knit that up?  That is what happened with this little dress.  One of the teachers at my kids' school is going to have a little girl and I wanted to make her something.  What to make that question sat on the back of my brain and haunted me.  What to knit...... I turned to Ravelry and found a pattern.  What do you think?April 09 011  I think I'll be knitting this pattern up again.  Hummmmmm anyone else having a baby girl  ;)
Also when I was in knitting pattern central I found this wash cloth pattern and knit it up in simple cotton.  Oh it was so nice and the thought just popped into my head PREEMIE BLANKET (my mind tends to yell because it is so loud in my house).  No rule saying the blanket had to be square.April 09 020   I thought of April and her little girl and had to get it to her.  I will be making more preemie blankets from round cloth patterns they are so fun to knit. I have knit up the odd pair of footies but they are on my feet more than off so next time I have the two together I will snap a photo.
For now I am off got to take the kids to school and a  few other tasks I need to get done, have sock will wait and wait and wait.

First Christmas sweater done

My first  project for Christmas is done, well nearly done. April 09 002 I still have to try it on hubby and do the three needle bind off under the arms.  Hey if I have to rip it out better before the three needle bind off.
I think I will start the boys sweaters when they go back to school in the fall.  If I have learned anything as a knitter it is boys grow.  My boys seem to grow just after I finish a sweater so I stall as long as I can.
What am I go to knit instead, well I found this sock yarn at hobby Lobby oh a couple of weeks ago and I've had the itch to knit up some winter footies. April 09 004 It seems I'm running and running here, there and everywere, so I need a project I can put in my purse.  Footies are just the project.  I hope the finished photo of the sock shows the yarn off better.  Well back to being mum, the drive to school ballet is about to start.  Shuttle here, shuttle there shuttle everywere.  Have a great day and happy knitting.

Nearly done

After weeks of planning and a whole lot ripping a special cheer leading dog sweater is nearly done.  I just have to put FHS (Franklin High School) on the back if need be.  I like the sweater without the FHS on the back.  We will see.  I meet with a couple of friends to hear what they think.  Don't remember how many times I ripped it out till I had the body just right.  I took photos of it while I was working on "The cheer leading dog sweater".  The journey looked kinda like this. First this.March 09 077   Then this.March 09 078   Then this. March 09 079 Then my goodness I have a lot of yarn ends to weave in. March 09 082 I couldn't weave in all these ends without a little help.March 09 083   Or should I say interfearence.  March 09 086 But in the end I think the fox looks rather dapper don't you.March 09 087 I can't wait to see this sweater on a real dog.  All in all I am happy with the sweater and looking forward to the next idea to pop into my head and out my knitting needles.  Now lets see if we put the letters on the back :)

Just wait....and knitting will come to you

Last week I was at loose ends.  No knitting.  I was stunned.  For as long as I can remember I have always had too many projects that I wanted to get done.  Knit knit knit to get to the next project, almost like a knitting machine (happy knitting machine).  When that process screeched to a halt I have to say I was grumpy.  In other blogs I've read about the knitting mojo just leaving a knitter but it never happened to me.  What would any self respecting knitter do in this position?  I dug into my stash and emerged with sock wool.  I had forgotten this wool and thought why not give it a whirl I need footies for the winter and it was knitting.  I started to knit and as the toe grew from my needles I fell in love with the yarn.  Yummy yummy Opel wool.March 09 070   Why oh why didn't I buy more when I had the chance.  Oh ya I didn't have the cash on hand.  Now maybe for Christmas when the kids are asking me what I want, top of my list is more sock yarn.  I have what 10 balls of assorted colors and brands, shocking, I may run out.
Now did I stop at knitting up a sock.... you know me better than that.  I need to start knitting for Christmas.  Hey I have 10 projects for the end of the year and 9 months to knit them.  I'm late I'm late in starting.  This thought hit me when Hubby and I were having coffee talking one day last week.  Humm hubby needs a Christmas sweater....
"Dear what Christmas sweater would you like this year."  (I always ask hubby 20 years of marriage has taught me well)
"Can I have a "V" neck so show off my Grinch tie."
Christmas wouldn't be the same without hubby and his Grinch tie, his reading the Grinch to any and all who are at the house.
"It is your sweater you can have what ever you want."  I smiled happy to have another project.
"Well since you put it that way could I have a small design at the bottom.  Something small?""
"Sure."
How hard could a simple V neck and design on the bottom.  All weekend I tried to find something I could use for all three of the men in our family.  I wanted the same design for the boys too just diff rent slightly if that makes any sense to you.  Rip the first cream Charlie Brown zig zag stripe to bright for deep blue.  Rip Rip a thin cream line.  Okay I cannot design a strip I search and found this.  Hubby liked it and so did I.  Knit knit knit and the bottom of the sweater is done.March 09 069

Blush

Yes I had a blush moment today and it wasn't the wine.  We are on spring break (my brain had gone on spring break days ago).  The kids are home and the pace around here is much slower.  Good thing because I don't think I'm up for anything but slow pace.  Mondays I always blog or try to blog.  It was midday before I thought and wondered about blogging.  Did I blog......what could I blog about...... later I will blog.  Well now is later.  It is just Justin and I home so I have time to blog......
I think my blogging is getting a bit  blaaaaaa.  Ever have a time in blog land when you think my life is the same old same old and I'm not excited to write about it so why would anyone be excited to read it.  Okay I am now  looking for something new to blog about, pick me up out of the blaaaaas.  Home work at my age why not.  Wish me luck and see you next Monday.

Some things I have learned this past month

What have I learned while I've been away from blog land......
1.  Sick dog who has turned away from his dog food will eat human food no matter what.  Mr Stubbs cannot eat all that he wants and that somethings just shouldn't be eaten.  Silly old dog ate something (your guess is as good as mine.  He has been know to eat Bar-B-Q parts) he shouldn't and had gotten really sick and for 3 days laid around the back yard turning away from his food.  Just when I was about to take him in to the Vet he started to wag his tail.  Hummmm I needed to see just how sick he was.  I offered him a cracker...... zipppp down it went burp....... I offered him mac and cheese. March 09 003  March 09 004 He perked up I'll tell you.  Now he is back to his barking self.
2nd thing I learned.  Never asume your not going to like a color combination.  A friend asked me to knit up a baby sweater for her.  Yes of course what color what style. I'm a knitter on a budget and if someone is willing to buy yarn for me to knit.  Yippie. Pink and brown.  My heart sank.  I'm not fond of the combo but she was.   How would I put the two together.  Between you and me I had to think a while.  It had to be pink and brown together and it had to have ruffles.  No such pattern around or that I could find.  I would have to modify a pattern.  I looked over my old stand by the seamless yoke and thought it could be modified.  After a week of knit, rip, knit, rip, I finished.March 09 002   I have to say I really like it.  Just goes to show, you can't judge a sweater before you finish it.  I added booties and a hat.March 09 010  March 09 011 Now one of the ladies at Lindsay's school wants the same sweater in a 12 month size.  I think I can make a bigger size.  Sure I can knitters can do anything.
Back to knitting I only have a week to knit up the next baby sweater.
